Alumni Celebrate the College's History
Friday, February 7th was a special night at Indian River State College. Alumni who graduated during the 1960s gathered at the Charles S. Miley Library to commemorate a piece of history and enjoy the camaraderie of being together. Dedicating a bronze plaque honoring Indian River Junior College’s first graduating class enjoying an evening of light fare and libations made for the perfect combination to celebrate the history of the College. Dean of Information Services, Mia Tignor, set up tables where guests could view newspapers and yearbooks from the Indian River State College archives. The College’s first Alumni Association President spoke about his time at IRJC, and the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the plaque. The dedication of the plaque is the culmination of an interesting story related to how the plaque was found and restored.
